Creating the Reverse Side of Postcards-Online Overview
12/19/2006
Designing the backside of your postcard- User
1) By clicking item 3 you can design the backside of your postcard.

2) When clicked you’ll see this screen where you are offered 3 choices, Choose from standard templates, choose from our own postcard back templates or simply upload your own.

These are the 3 different windows that will pop up when you use the links that the 3 silhouette figures are pointing to.
Label 1- Is executed by clicking. The wndow will close and you must click update proof
Label 2- Are postcard designed printing on the reverse side. It is executed by clicking. The wndow will close and you must click update proof.
Label 3- UPLOAD YOUR OWN CUSTOM BACKGROUND
Backgrounds must meet the following requirements :
The image must be a “png” image.
The image dimensions for a horizontal card design should be 550 X 393.
The image dimensions for a vertical card design should be 393 X 550.
The total upload size of the image must be less than 10Mb
NO .MPEGS, .MP3 OR .EXE Files accepted.
10 Mb limit.
You must click update proof.

3) Once you make your choice click “update proof”.
4) Your data will appear merged into your layout.
5) Now you can edit the placement of text by using the standard layouts or move the text around by using the text tools at the bottom.
Designing the backside of your postcard- Programmer
1) By clicking item 3 you can design the backside of your postcard- OK
2) When clicked you’ll see this screen where you are offered 3 choices, Choose from standard templates, choose from our own postcard back templates or simply upload your own. - Needs proper coding to provide full functions.
3) Once you make your choice click “update proof”. - You will also notice that “Add Stock Postcard Back I Add Your Own Background” links disappear after user makes choice. This should not happen; they should remain visible throughout design session.
4) User data will appear merged into the layout. The layouts do not perform as they do on the front design module, they are very unstable. So we will adapt the code from front module code
5) Now you can edit the placement of text by using the standard layouts or move the text around by using the text tools at the bottom. Same as front module
Notes- Jan 4, 2007
The one new function that needs to be introduced into the back designs is the ability for the user to insert a text block.
For interest sake take a look at Google images
You can see a pattern of styles. They seem to always include area for text, co.name, slogan, address, tell, fax etc. Sometimes they include lightly tinted lines to guide in writing. We have created a set of horizontal and vertical postcard back designs that encompass many of these characteristics.

Other noteworthy points: I am not sure on the best way to handle session data? Perhaps there are some good suggestions in the eye of a programmer. The backside was put together from existing files only to illustrate the basic requirements. Programmer can decide on the best way to properly code this, either by using existing codes and adapting or by writing new ones. Any of the work that I have done I have used a file called “V2_sside_bcard_adv_for_back.php”

Sergey says:
Hi Robert! Are you available for talk now ?
BOB says:
Ho Sergey: 10 mins?
Sergey says:
Yes, of course
BOB says:
My host is acting up again so I am on hold with live support, let’s try and multi task then
Sergey says:
OK.
Sergey says:
Could you tell me please:
Sergey says:
V2_sside_bcard_adv_for_back.php
BOB says:
yes
Sergey says:
is different in dev and www
Sergey says:
I think the one in www is newer and should be used …
BOB says:
no my work was finished in www
BOB says:
but it may not by much use for code
BOB says:
I was trying to show you what I wanted
Sergey says:
You mean you made it in www
BOB says:
best way I knew how
BOB says:
yes I think so
Sergey says:
I see …
BOB says:
yes i am sure now
Sergey says:
Yes, in www it shows ther idea, but works stangely …
BOB says:
I doen’t matter whee you want to develop it to me
BOB says:
When I started that it was old code
Sergey says:
Do you mean I could develop it in www directly if necessary ?
BOB says:
sure
Sergey says:
OK. thanks
BOB says:
whatever you find easier
Sergey says:
OK. Thanks
Sergey says:
At that page we show the image: http://dev.weprintcolour.com/Uploads/011507_WNGEK3CHX41F_Card_1_back.gif
BOB says:
Oh
Sergey says:
Why did you keep the text editing tools available
Sergey says:
if there is nothing to edit at the image ?
BOB says:
That is the instructional image that tells the user what to do when initially entering backpanel
Sergey says:
And text editing tools should not work when it is shown …
BOB says:
correct
Sergey says:
So we could just hide the Text Tools
Sergey says:
from the user
BOB says:
sounds good
Sergey says:
OK.
Sergey says:
That feature of adding text block … Could you tell me what is it ? Which functionality is necessary ?
BOB says:
When wanted to pick your brain for best approach on that
Sergey says:
Sorry, I do not quite understand …
BOB says:
Talking to tech now
Sergey says:
ok
BOB says:
http://www.themonkees.com/monkees_images_pw/Monkee%20Club%20Picture%20Postcard%20Back%20pw.GIF\
Sergey says:
I see … Just from what I saw at how the script for backside works presently, the set of images for the fron and back sides is the same. Will they be diffferent ?
Sergey says:
E.g. http://www.weprintcolour.com/Uploads/011507_CompanyName_Card_1_back.gif clearly could not be an image for the backside
Sergey says:
Backside must be mostly blank or there is no space to type that text block
BOB says:
right but…
BOB says:
user can choose from stock bacgrounds
BOB says:
made for back styles
BOB says:
they are currently present
BOB says:
in www
BOB says:
in these cases we wil load specific layouts
BOB says:
same coding for front
BOB says:
we will make layouts
BOB says:
to suit each 1
BOB says:
I think there’s 10
Sergey says:
stock bacgrounds which I found in www now are for front side only I think. Could you give me a link to at least 1 image for backside please ?
BOB says:
1 sec
Sergey says:
ok
BOB says:
Let’s do it together
BOB says:
http://www.weprintcolour.com/bus_card_backgrounds/real_estate/RealEstate_house.php?verse=None&YourSlogan=None+Entered&CompanyName=Company+Name&YourName=Your+Name&YourTitle=Your+Title&AddressLine1=Address+Line+1&AddressLine2=Address+Line+2&AddressLine3=State%2FProvince%2F+Zip%2F+Postal+Code&Tel=Telephone%2F+Other+&Fax=Fax+or+Cel%3A&Email=Email%40Address.com&Website=Website+Address&textarea=&Submit=
Sergey says:

Sergey says:
I did it and see the point
BOB says:
you may choose to not use any of my work e.g. V2_sside_bcard_adv_for_back.php
BOB says:
because it is probably a mess anyways
BOB says:
but it help communicate
BOB says:
to you
Sergey says:
OK. I see. But it is very good to understand what is necessary anyway
BOB says:
sure
Sergey says:
yes, it is very helpful
Sergey says:
thanks
BOB says:
there are still some grey areas
Sergey says:
yes ?
BOB says:
well we have not really covered complete to checkout yet
BOB says:
I am not sure if we should work in phases or…
BOB says:
it is time to get the big picture of the finshed project
BOB says:
up to you
Sergey says:
It would be great to understand everything to the end of course
Sergey says:
It would simplify coding
BOB says:
right
BOB says:
that is what I thought
BOB says:
Mostly everything works
BOB says:
accept ths part (back)
Sergey says:
I see
BOB says:
e.g. if you click save and continue now
BOB says:
you will see how it works
BOB says:
the pricing is accurately done
BOB says:

BOB says:

It will require your skilled hands to see it through
Sergey says:
OK. Thanks
Sergey says:
I’ll play ith the system a little bit tomorrow after I get home form the office and ask you some more questions if necessary … If it is not necessary, we’ll discuss what we do 1st. Would it be OK ?
BOB says:
sure
BOB says:
sounds good
Sergey says:
Ok. So thanks for the tour. It is very useful to see the system in general
Sergey says:

Msn Further discussion on panel and Related Issues
Sergey says:
Could you be possibly available for talk now ?
BOB says:
sure
Sergey says:
Could you open 2 browser windows: in the 1st one please open AM in dev, in the 2nd please open AM in www. The look of AM in dev has been changed a little bit. Could you tell me your opinion about it ?
Sergey says:
I just found you css file responsible for colors which did not show and included it to the AM page
Sergey says:
in dev
BOB says:
uhh
Sergey says:
But it changed not only colors, but also how text fields and pull-downs look like
Sergey says:
I could reverse the change, or I could update www with it
BOB says:
I have dev and www tiled side by side
BOB says:
what do you want me to see?
Sergey says:
AM in dev
Sergey says:
AM page
Sergey says:
how it looks
Sergey says:
Please notice all the text fields are smaller now
Sergey says:
e.g. Update Proof text field
BOB says:
I think it’s better…
Sergey says:
OK. this is the css file you already had. It just was not included
BOB says:
one thing that would make it much easier for user is…
Sergey says:
yes ?
BOB says:
if the updated proof button had an outline in red around it when user need to “update Proof”
BOB says:
Is this easily done with css?
BOB says:
If that happened then we can eliminate text
BOB says:
Click ‘Update Proof>’ to Execute Changes
BOB says:
In 2 locations
Sergey says:
Text is helpful under any circumstances I think …
Sergey says:
Would you really like to remove it ?
BOB says:
I think opposite…
Sergey says:
Whatever you wish
BOB says:
The more graphic the idea the easier for anyone to understand e.g.
BOB says:
Instead of text, someting very noticable happens to button
BOB says:
blicking red outlie, solid red outline?
BOB says:
that kind of idea
Sergey says:
I see
BOB says:
simplifies
Sergey says:
A moment please
BOB says:
process
Sergey says:
ok
BOB says:
also cleans it up
BOB says:
no need text or textfield with trigger message
Sergey says:
I am not sure about blinking … I’ll see if it works in different browser. From what I remember there could be problems with blinking. But I could be wrong.
BOB says:
It could be as simple as making the arrow beside it blink
BOB says:
2 frame annimation
Sergey says:
I see. Still I would leave the text field … My experience shows that users begin to read if they are confused. Sometimes at least
BOB says:
But the letter are embedded it the button “Update proof”
Sergey says:
ok
Sergey says:
I am trying some simple changes with CSS now
BOB says:
cool
Sergey says:
will take a minute or 2
BOB says:
sure
BOB says:
Also, I am not sure if this is easy but the text “Make any text changes” in the text Tools menu can be removed completely
Sergey says:
ok
BOB says:
” Change Layout” beside “Choose Text You Wish To Edit”
Sergey says:
Please see the red border around Update Proof
BOB says:
Yes but is it possible to attach it to all current triggers so it only shows when it is required by user?
Sergey says:
the button does not look 3-d anymore
Sergey says:
Is it OK ?
BOB says:
Actually I was thinking the same thing
BOB says:
I think mage beside is best arrow changes behoir
BOB says:
I am uploading it in a min
Sergey says:
ok
BOB says:
http://dev.weprintcolour.com/images/arrow-update.gif
BOB says:
http://dev.weprintcolour.com/images/arrow-no-update.gif
Sergey says:
Please notice: gif-animations could be turned off in some browsers
BOB says:
oh
BOB says:
hmm
BOB says:
is ther a form of moving image that cannot be turned off?
Sergey says:
…”Make any text changes” is removed
Sergey says:
We could leave what we have now + add the gif-animation
BOB says:
yep
BOB says:
that works
BOB says:
starting to look more condensed and professional
Sergey says:
OK. So presently there is no procedure activated on trigger. Jusy inline JavaScript. I would have to make the procedure and add it everywhere at the AM page. Simple but would take half an hour at least - many places to change. Do you think 5 USD is a fair price for this JS trigger update ?
BOB says:
sure, if ou wanted me to make a payment let me know
Sergey says:
Thanks.
Sergey says:
No, no payment is necessary yet. I earned to little from the future payment. After JS trigger it will be only 10 USD form the future payment
Sergey says:
Ok. Would no you minfd if I continued tomorrow please ?
BOB says:
Ok sure, the say the word when you need me to
BOB says:
sure
Sergey says:
I have to have some sleep before I go to the office
Sergey says:
Ok. Thanks
Sergey says:
Godd night to you !
BOB says:
g’night then
Sergey says:
thanks
Sergey says:
ditto
